The Beauty of Ebony
Hidersine Venezia violas benefit from a genuine ebony fingerboard, pegs, and chin rest. This hardwood has traditionally been used for hundreds of years due to its sincerely long-lasting properties. Genuine ebony doesn't mark, pit or wear out under lengthy playing periods. This is essential in areas such as the pegs, which are under a lot of tension from the strings. The shaft of each peg needs to retain its integrity, and using Ebony is one of the best ways to ensure this. Ebony should remain structurally intact for a very long time, and it will also feel smooth on the fingers and chin, helping make the playing experience more all round enjoyable.
Antique Oil Varnish
This Hidersine Venezia has various 'antique' markers and is finished with a rouge-brown, oil varnish. This varnish accentuates the natural beauty and detail of the selected spruce and maple and gives the viola a traditional lighter colour. The instrument is also uniquely treated with slight pitting and wear-marks evident across the body in order to replicate the appearance of a much-loved example.
Synthetic Core Strings
The Hidersine Venezia utilises nylon core strings in order to produce a warmer sound with more distinctive overtones.
Provided With Everything You'll Need
Your new Venezia will be supplied as an outfit, meaning it comes complete with everything you need to get started. The outfit will include a case, bow, and some rosin. The oblong styrofoam shockproof case will provide maximum protection, along with internal accessory compartments and an outer music pocket. The bulletwood fully-mounted bow with ebony frog is of highest quality. There is a smooth metal plate between the frog and the bow stick, allowing a smooth fit and protection for the wood as it slides back and forth as the bow is tightened and loosened. This means that not only will the bow assist in producing a superb tone, it will also perform its role for a long time to come.
The Hidersine Company
The company was founded in 1890 and has since been the go-to company of bowed instrument maintenance and care. The company really made their mark in this specialist market when they introduced Amy Birch's 'AB' Rosin in 1970 and the legendary W.E.Hill & Sons' rosins in the 1980's.
Hidersine Bowed Instruments round up all of the years of working with instrument luthiers, learning what is required by players at all the different levels of development. Gained from the years of work are the ESTA-chosen (European String Teachers Association), entry-level Vivente student outfit, the advanced Piacenza student outfit, and the degree students’ choice, the Veracini, plus many finer instruments. These instruments led Hidersine to develop the Hidersine Reserve range of one-off instruments for the connoisseur. Hand selected violins and cellos from workshops across Asia that shows off both a great value and exceptional craftsmanship.
The form of your Hidersine Venezia viola is the result of genuine hand-carving techniques. Not only have the intricate curves of the top, back and ribs been carefully tooled, but the neck and the beautiful head have also been skilfully crafted. Luthiers have been passing their immense skill down the line for centuries, and in the case of Hidersine Venezia instruments, the skilled hand-carving techniques can be truly appreciated.
