It's unusual to get a hand varnished instrument in this price range. But GEWA have done it! The Marseille violin has a natural red resin varnish, and once combined with the full ebony fittings, you will realise how good this violin looks.
To ensure you get the best possible start, GEWA have made this outfit to include everything you need. On the violin, you will find Thomastik Alphayue strings and a Wittner fine-tuning tailpiece so you can start to learn the basics of tuning. The Aspirante violin also includes an oblong case, rosin, and a bow with natural hair.

The Gewa Aspirante violin is the ideal instrument for ambitious beginners. By using the historic combination of a solid maple body with a spruce top produces a focused, powerful sound with plenty of body. And thanks to these European tonewoods, the instrument's tone will continue to improve over time.
Unlike other violins, the Aspirante is CNC-machined compared to hand-carved. Not only does this enable GEWA to keep the cost down, but it also ensure that every single violin is made to the same highest-standards. This is especially important for schools and music centres.
Similar to more expensive violins, the Aspirante includes full ebony fittings. Not only do these look great, but they're also hardwearing compared to cheaper woods. For the perfect finish, the Marseille violin has been hand-varnished with a coating of red natural resin varnish. Unlike heavier varnishes, the Aspirante violin has been coated with an extra thin varnish to ensure it doesn't hinder the projection of the violin.
Thomastik Alphayue Strings
The Thomastik Alphayue violin string set offers an alternative to standard solid-steel strings. Assuring an instant response, supple playability, and colourful tone, the Alphayue strings are guaranteed to make performing fun. This set includes a combination of steel and synthetic cores and a variety of windings including tin plated, aluminium and, silver. Featuring a medium tension gauge which offers optimum versatility, the Alphayue strings are ideal for players who wish to concentrate on their own playing style. These strings all have ball ends which are suitable for musicians who require a reliable sound that maintains its voice over time.
Everything you need
Included with the Aspirante violin is a lightweight hard case with plenty of storage. For ease of use, the case includes backpack straps to ensure that commuting is never an issue. The inside of the case can hold up to two bows, and even features a small accessory pocket - ideal for the included rosin.
Also included is a bow crafted from quality wood that is octagonally shaped for a comfortable grip when performing. Similar to more expensive bows, the bow features bright lapping, a comfortable thumb grip, and a three-piece looking end screw for a premium look. This bow uses natural horse hair for the best possible sound and is suitable for any 1/4 size violin.
