Eurorack Variable Filter

The Studio Electronics SEM Filter combines the best of both worlds, incorporating a high pass, low pass and band pass filter, all with a 12 dB/oct slope. This new edition of the SEM filter combines the original SEM design with newer innovations from the OBX for optimal performance value. The simultaneous high pass, low pass and band pass outputs give you everything you need to boost, push and filter your input sources to the max. The versatile internal circuitry gives you the ability to utilise everything from subtle, lighter tones to fat, punchy, in-your-face characteristics when pushed to its limit. The input level is not limited but instead it is boosted as well as the resonance levels. This allows you to achieve some highly unique and interesting tones.

In-Depth Modulation Control

The SEM Filter Module includes a range of precise controls including dedicated Frequency and Resonance attenuators. The precision attenuators allow you to dial in your selected sound with ease. The SEM Filter Module includes seven patch points in total for optimal modulation/manipulation capabilities. Based on the design template of the Tom Oberheim SEM filter, this custom version from SEM Filter only improves on the original, in a Eurorack format. In total, the unit features three attenuverter and four attenuation pots complete with a half/full voltage tracking switch. This makes the SEM Filter Module the swiss-army knife of the modulation world, allowing you to create a wide range of high-quality effects.

Design & Applications

This Eurorack format filter module features a sleek, metal face-plate with an ergonomic layout. All the controls are clearly labelled for easy access, allowing you to make changes on the fly. The controls themselves allow you to make subtle changes as well as being able to push them to max. There is also a BP/LP-HP for switching between filter modes. The design of the unit is uniformed with the rest of the Boomstar modular range. Measuring at 12HP, this module takes up minimal space; making it ideal for the space conscious user.
