Sonarworks Sound ID Reference Software
Achieve consistent sound across all gear
SoundID Reference ensures your mixes sound the same, regardless of the gear you're using. It calibrates over 500 headphone models and a wide range of speaker configurations, including stereo, 5.1 and up to full 9.1.6 Atmos setups. This gives you the flexibility to work confidently in different environments, knowing your reference sound remains stable. This helps you make mixing decisions based on sound, not guesswork, and means fewer surprises when your track is played elsewhere.
Mix with the real world in mind
The built-in translation check and Virtual Monitoring features let you simulate playback on everyday devices. This includes cars, laptops, smartphones, TVs and hi-fi systems. These simulations are built on calibrated speaker profiles, so you’re hearing an accurate picture of how your mix will translate outside the studio. It removes the need for bouncing down mixes and testing them across different environments, which saves hours of trial and error. By catching balance issues or tonal imbalances early, you can produce music that connects across all systems.
Fine-tune your monitoring with precision
You’re not locked into a single monitoring profile. SoundID Reference lets you manually shape your target curve and define which frequency range calibration applies to. This is particularly useful for engineers who need to tailor their listening environment to different genres, projects or personal preferences. You can select a completely flat target, build your own presets or choose something tailored like a Dolby Atmos music curve. It helps bridge the gap between objective calibration and creative workflow, without compromising reliability.
Stay efficient at every stage of production
Different filter processing modes adapt SoundID Reference to your workflow. Zero-latency mode is perfect for tracking and recording, where responsiveness is essential. The mixed mode offers a good balance for general use, and linear phase mode ensures transparent playback for detailed mixing or mastering. Each option is designed to keep your system responsive and accurate, so you can switch between tasks without changing tools. These flexible modes let you maintain a clean and dependable reference sound through all stages of music creation, from idea to final master.
