This is not a simplified version, so you get the full playing experience in a controller format. Each key tracks multiple dimensions of movement, including pressure, side-to-side motion, and release behaviour. This allows you to treat every note independently, even within complex chords.
You can bend a single note while holding others steady, or apply vibrato with subtle finger movement. This approach brings a more physical connection to digital instruments. Instead of relying on wheels or automation, your hands stay on the keys while shaping the sound. It feels familiar at first touch, yet opens up new ways to perform that are typically associated with acoustic instruments.
Ctrl-e acts as the core sound environment for the Osmose CE, giving you a direct path to expressive sound design without added complexity. With over 900 presets included, each one is built to respond naturally to the keybed’s capabilities. You can browse using simple filters, making it easy to find sounds that suit your session. Every preset includes eight pre-mapped macros, so adjustments can be made quickly without diving into deeper menus.
The platform also brings together multiple synthesis types, including physical modelling, wavetable, analogue-style, hybrid, and digital approaches. The Osmose CE is designed to work smoothly with both MPE-compatible and standard MIDI instruments. When connected to MPE-enabled software, it unlocks full per-note expression, allowing each note to carry its own modulation and articulation. For traditional MIDI setups, flexible configurations allow you to introduce added nuance without changing your entire system.
This means you can continue using your current plugins, hardware, and DAW sessions while enhancing them with expressive control. Press Glide allows you to move smoothly between notes using pressure, giving transitions a more natural feel compared to fixed timing controls.
Integrated DAW controls provide access to transport functions, track navigation, mixer adjustments, and macro controls without reaching for a mouse. Unlike the original Osmose, which includes an internal sound engine for standalone use, the CE edition is focused entirely on control, relying on external instruments and the Ctrl-e ecosystem for sound generation.
When you register your Osmose CE on the Expressive E website using the product serial number, you'll gain access to the included software through your Expressive E account. You'll also receive an iLok activation code for Ctrl-e, which can be activated on up to three computers at the same time.
