The Golden Age Project EQ-573 is a premium-grade, vintage-style equalizer, basing its design on classic 73-style equalizer modules. The designed is comprised of a combination of vintage-style electronics and modern innovations, resulting in a truly unique tonal character. The unit only uses discrete components such as capacitors, resistors and inductors for optimised audio performance. The resulting sound is warm yet punchy, adding a unique style to a range of sound sources and musical genres. The Class-A circuit is designed to be similar to that of classic 73-style sound modules, capturing the very essence that made vintage EQs so desirable. The EQ-573 is designed to be used in conjunction with the Golden Age Project PRE-573 MKII, and cannot be used as a standalone EQ.
The flexible control section features a 3-band configuration with a dual inductor based mid frequency band, as well as an integrated indictor based high pass filter. The 3-bands utilise a wide frequency range spanning from 33Hz – 20kHz in stepped increments. The stepped frequency selection ensures optimal precision, and can be also handy for recalling settings when used in the future. The high pass filter offers even more way to shape your sound, with a slope of 18dB/octave, ideal for a range of sound sources. The tantalum capacitors used within the signal path are utilised to create that classic warmth associated with vintage equipment. The control range goes up to +/- 18dB for maximum flexibility, with the low and high frequency bands being shelved, with the mid frequency band being a bell type. Each section can also be switched off individually for added versatility, allowing you to easily compare between the dry and processed signals.
Keeping in line with the vintage aesthetic, Golden Age Project have employed a range of retro-style components and controls to suit the style. The retro-style attenuators are reminiscent of vintage EQ pots, providing optimal precision with a range of stepped based controls. The unit also features a Master Bypass switch, allowing you to instantly check between your original and processed signal. The 500-series format is ideal for studio and live users alike, allowing you to incorporate them into live modular racks or install within the studio. The circuits board even features a star grounding scheme for optimal versatility.
