Key Features
The Antelope Edge Note Small Diaphragm Modelling Microphone is designed for engineers who require accurate transient response and a controlled capture of high level sources.
Product Ref: 339469
The Edge Note is engineered to handle complex sessions where high volume instruments must be recorded with clarity. Its maximum SPL of 146 dB positions it comfortably in applications that include snares, toms, cymbals, brass sections and percussive instruments with strong attack.
The diaphragm maintains linear behaviour across the full frequency range which helps preserve detail during rapid transients. This performance reduces the need for corrective processing and provides engineers with a dependable signal path during close micing.
The modelling system replicates characteristics drawn from a range of respected small diaphragm and dynamic microphones. These emulations provide options for bright, neutral or fuller voicings that can be matched to specific instruments or ensemble contexts.
Each model maintains the frequency response and behaviour of the original design which helps achieve consistent results in sessions that require varied tonal character. By working within Antelope’s software environment, these profiles can be applied in real time for monitoring or committed during recording. This approach supports efficient decision making during tracking.
The pad switch reduces input level by 10 dB or 20 dB which prevents preamp overload when working with forceful sources. This feature is particularly relevant for engineers who position microphones close to drums or brass where sudden peaks can exceed the available headroom of connected interfaces.
The high pass filter offers two cutoff points at 75 Hz and 115 Hz. These settings help remove low frequency energy that can compromise definition in acoustic instruments or overhead placements. Together these controls support clean, accurate recordings and provide engineers with practical tools to adapt the microphone to varied acoustic conditions.
The microphone operates through a single preamp input and is managed through the Antelope routing system. Users can direct the raw signal to monitoring paths or choose the emulated version when a specific model is required during tracking. Recording can be completed with or without the applied emulation which allows flexibility during production.
Compatibility extends across the Zen Go SC, Zen Q SC, Zen Tour SC, Orion Studio SC, Discrete 4 Pro SC and Discrete 8 Pro SC. With standard 48 V phantom power, low output impedance and a compact housing, the Edge Note fits securely into professional signal chains and supports a wide range of instrumental recording tasks.
