Perfect for spot-miking and surround recordings

With its cardioid polar pattern, the Sennheiser MKH 8040 is an ideal choice for capturing sound without having to worry about the acoustics of your environment. It also allows you to prevent the pickup of unwanted sounds from the rear of the microphone. Thanks to its even, front-facing directionality, the MKH 8040 provides you with excellent isolation of your sound source whilst delivering that signature Sennheiser MKH sound quality.

Unique capsule symmetry

Every MKH capsule boasts a unique capsule design. Utilising a symmetrical construction consisting of a regular back plate as well as an additional identical front plate, these capsules are built for performance. The unique design eliminates non-linearity of the transducer, as well as any harmonic and intermodulation distortion. You also gain the benefit of your mic being able to record subtle nuances that other microphones may never capture, giving your recordings a full, natural character.

Modular design for maximum versatility

Take advantage of the MKH series' modular architecture, and be ready for anything. Every microphone in the MKH 8000 series can be broken down into a few components. The microphone heads contain all of the acoustic and electronic components for your mic, and can be attached to a huge variety of accessories.

The microphone heads come complete with an XLR module, allowing you to connect your MKH mic to a wide variety of equipment with standard microphone cables. You can also choose from a variety of other modules to further increase the flexibility of your mic.

A handy digital module, the MZD 8000, simply screws onto your microphone head, and enables you to convert your analogue audio signal into a digital one. This conversion happens right behind the mic head itself, preserving the crystal-clear, vivid sound of your mic.

Then there's the MZF 8000 filter module. This is also easy to attach, and provides you with a powerful solution for blocking interference caused by infrasound. You can remove low-frequency rumble and noise caused by wind and handling that could potentially plague your recordings and render your work unusable. As well as the modules, the MKH series also boasts an extensive list of available accessories, allowing you to adapt your microphone to suit the needs of any situation.

Please note: The MZD 8000 and MZF 8000 are not included with your microphone and must be purchased separately.
