Detect-R is the main output of the Detect-Rx. It provides an envelope output, rectified output and gate output simultaneously. If a second signal is patched into the Extract-R, this can be used separately. Smooth and Env Gain controls can be used to alter the response of the resultant envelope. The Env Gain provides a significant amount of gain for low level input signals. It simultaneously controls level of the envelope and is capable of attenuation.
The frequency switch for the Detect-R selects at which frequency point the envelope responds to dynamic changes from the input signal. Combined with the high gain ‘Env Gain’ parameter, this ensures a huge range of sound sources can be used for the Detect-RX. The envelope and peak level is indicated via an LED dedicated to the Detect-R section.
The smoothing control adds an additional transient shaping function to the Detect-R envelope. This additional filter operates like a low pass filter. This helps smooth out the ripple associated with envelope followers as well as allowing for precise control over the Detect-R envelope.
The Extract-R is a voltage-controlled comparator with three threshold sections, line level, 5V and 10V peak. Each of these provide various levels of control and response and are selected via the Range function. By normalising the output gate into the Detect-R input, a second method of producing and envelope from a gate is created. The Extract-R provides a range of modulation possibilities including converting audio into a series of pulses to create extreme distortion. Extreme distortion can also be achieved by utilising the Detect-Rx’s rectifier input.
