While other drum modules on the market offer a bells and whistles approach to drum sounds within your Eurorack, the SoundForce Samples takes a different approach. Standing out from the crowd, Samples delivers a no-frills source of classic 808 sounds, but not the ones you'd expect. Loaded into the 4HP design are six unique pre-loaded one-shot sounds along with audio trigger inputs and outputs per soundbank. Taken from a genuine 808-style drum machine, the sounds you can imprint into your compositions are extremely authentic. Powered by the STM32F411 chip to drive the 6 DACs and store the sounds, these one-shot samples are recreated with stunning accuracy and fidelity. Claves, rimshot, maracas, clap, cowbell and closed hi-hat sounds are all presented to lift your percussion composition to the next level. Taking advantage of all that modular has to offer, the SoundForce Samples presents much more opportunity for sound design than would first appear with the limited and streamlined design. Audio rate triggering, fully independent triggering of each channel and output processing through external effects and modules are just a few of the uses you can enjoy with Samples.

The sounds of authentic drum machines

Taken from the infamous 808-style drum machine, the sounds within SoundForce Samples place you in familiar territory for creating the signature electronic dance tracks that have dominated airways for decades. The samples come pre-loaded and can't be manipulated so instead Samples aims to provide you with a collection of more unique sounds to compose with as opposed to a blank canvas for creative sound design. This does not mean that Samples is limited in application. Due to the nature of modular design, Samples' inputs and outputs serve as connection points to process your tracks in a myriad of different ways using existing modules within your system to create a sound that's tailored to your mix instead of using tired cut and paste samples.

Typically with any 808-style drum machine soundbank, you would be forgiven for thinking that the signature sound of the bass drum and snare drum would be the main focus with attention given to the tuning option, distortion and decay parameters. Samples is focused on the sounds that fill around the gaps of your main drums. The six onboard sounds are claves, rimshot, maracas, handclap, cowbell and closed hi-hat. Typically, you don't usually get claves and rimshots simultaneously on 808-style machines as they would need to be toggled manually between channels.

Pushing the envelope of what's possible with a stationary set of one-shot samples, Samples can take advantage of all that modular has to offer. Experiment with sending your cowbell output to a downsampler with a hint of delay for a sci-fi-esque sound that's perfect for adding dimension to your track. Output your hand claps to external filters and envelopes to create resonant and musical 'blips' for your snare tracks. You could even send your hi-hat outputs to effects such as reverb with the mix control modulated from tempo-synced clock sources, adding ebb and flow into the groove that pulls you into the music. There's so much more to Samples than what it seems.
