Key Features
The Behringer SKIES Granular Audio Processor is ideal for modular synth users looking to reshape live audio into rich textures, glitchy rhythms or ambient layers. It gives you full control over key granular parameters including position, size, pitch, and density, so you can easily transform any input in real time.
Nearly New: This product may have been opened for quality control purposes, returned by a customer, refurbished, or may have non-essential parts or software missing. Otherwise, the product operates as new. This is a great opportunity to buy a fully functioning product at a discounted price.

SKIES processes audio from your modular system in real time, without relying on stored samples. This means your sound design responds instantly to what you feed into it. You can adjust the grain position to focus on different parts of the input, set the grain size to stretch or compress the sound, tweak the pitch to shift it harmonically, and control the density to decide how many grains are heard at once.
Each of these controls gives you a hands-on way to reshape and evolve your audio directly from your patch. The result is a system that encourages experimentation and reacts fluidly to your creative input. You can generate subtle texture from a single oscillator or transform complex signals into unpredictable patterns. Since SKIES is built to handle incoming audio, it fits naturally into any performance-based modular workflow. It keeps things immediate and responsive, so your ideas turn into sound without delay.
The Blend knob brings stereo spread, feedback and reverb into the mix, helping you push beyond dry granular effects. This gives you a quick way to open up the soundstage and create more immersive results. You can apply a soft stereo shimmer for ambient layering or push the reverb and feedback to produce chaotic or washed-out textures.
Because this effect section is tied directly to the granular engine, it blends in naturally with whatever sound you are building. You get depth and movement that follows your modulation and patch changes, making SKIES a creative space builder as well as a processor. It means you spend less time setting up external effects and more time exploring new sonic directions within your rack.
The Freeze function captures a slice of your audio input and loops it indefinitely. This feature is especially useful for building drones, layered pads or textural backgrounds that you can further modulate. You can freeze a moment during a live jam or performance and then use SKIES’ granular controls to break it apart, reverse it or smear it into something new.
It helps bridge the gap between performance and sampling by giving you quick access to looping and holding sound in real time. You do not need to stop or record into another system. You just press Freeze, and you have an instant soundbed to work from. This adds a whole new layer of playability to your modular system, encouraging on the spot creativity and spontaneous ideas.
SKIES supports mono and stereo input modes, making it compatible with a wide range of patches and performance setups. You can also choose from different audio resolutions, from lo-fi 8-bit at 16 kHz to cleaner 16-bit at 32 kHz, depending on the tone you are after. The module is compact at 18 HP and slots neatly into standard Eurorack cases, powered by a regular -12 V and +12 V supply.
A front panel USB port makes firmware updates simple, so you can access improvements or new features without needing to remove the module. SKIES is based on the Mutable Instruments Clouds architecture but focuses on real-time interaction, giving you a streamlined experience that keeps your hands on the sound at all times.
