Grand Auditorium Shape

The Gypsy Zebra features a grand auditorium body shape with a cutaway body, and is built to deliver a well-rounded sound. The shape is perfect for those who like to write, record, or perform, as it is good quality, delivers a well-balanced tone, and is very comfy to sit with for long periods of time. The auditorium size allows players to get bigger sound projection, extra bass, and mid-range tones that smaller bodied guitars just can't deliver.

Choice of Tonewoods

The Gypsy Zebra is built from a range of carefully selected tonewoods including, a spruce top, a mahogany neck, mahogany back and sides, and rosewood fingerboard. The Gypsy Zebra produces warmth, bright attack, and a thick well defined tone perfect for many playing styles. Mahogany contains distinct character of a soft warmth, but is well balanced with a bite of its own. Mahogany is used a lot in the acoustic world, because it is relatively economical, durable, attractive, easy to work with, and resonant. The organic nature of the wood makes each Luna guitar uniquely different in tone, offering players a sound, both unique to them and their style.

Mahogany Neck

Constructed from mahogany, the Zebra's neck provides players with plenty of resonance and great durability. The mahogany neck responds greatly to many different styles of play and numerous techniques with ease. This comfortable C shaped neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard for a smooth and energetic play, as well as delivering its own unique tonal properties for players to enjoy. These tonal properties include a stunning sonic warmth, with a hint of bright sizzling-sparkle that really shines through when using fingerpicking techniques. Its rosewood fingerboard is sprinkled with mother-of-pearl moon phase inlays, which project Luna's love for nature beautifully.

Luna Preamp

The Gypsy Zebra comes equipped with an on-board Luna RD-0904TL preamp meaning you can take your Gypsy Zebra to the stage and impress crowds with its gorgeous tonal properties. The Luna preamp is very simple and easy to use, just plug into an amplifier, change your settings to personal preference, and simply play away. Control options include bass, mids, treble, and presence.

Luna History

Yvonne Villiers is an accomplished stained-glass artist who envisioned Luna guitars. Her inspiration for a line of guitars designed to maximise playing comfort came from her mother, Hilda Villiers, a bassist for over 40 years. Whilst watching her mum on stage, Yvonne couldn't help but notice the massive struggle her mum had whilst playing. With her mum being petite and using such a heavy instrument, she used to complain of how hard it was to be a woman and try to play these big bass guitars.

Yvonne then questioned if there were others like her mum that struggled with the same problems and pains. She came up with the idea of a woman specific guitar, uniquely tailored to fit their bodies, their hands, and their musical styles. Yvonne moved on to created Luna guitars, a line of guitars made for female musicians of all ages and crafted with luminous visual beauty to engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent.

Yvonne already had brilliant artistic skills and use of colour, she then applied the same techniques as she did with her award winning stained glass work to her new line of guitars. She is known for using rich colours that shimmer and shine with every movement providing an eye-catching design along with the great musical tones Luna guitars deliver. Yvonne's design expertise has led so many men to respond to Luna's well-crafted, spirit-engaging instruments that the company now creates guitars for both female and male musicians of all ages.
