A Traditional Tele Playing Experience

Beneath its sophisticated exterior lies a classic alder body, which has been Fender's choice of tonewood since the 50s. This wood provides you with that iconic Tele 'twang' that can be heard on countless Telecasters throughout the years. Alder's a great tonewood, giving you plenty of sustain and clarity. Its versatile tonal properties makes it perfect for a variety of different musical genres.

The classic body also features a traditional vintage-style Tele bridge, completing its classic look while offering incredible string stability. The bridge also features a string-though-body setup. This gives you an increase in sustain by enhancing the level of vibration transfer from the strings to the body. Make those strings sing.

For that traditional 60s playing experience, the Fender MIJ Tele is equipped with a classic ''U'' shaped neck. This neck profile was used predominantly on the Japanese made models, since it offered more comfort across the entire fingerboard for players with smaller hands than standard C profiles.

Fender 'Made in Japan'

The Made in Japan series from Fender introduces you to the craft and style of Fender Japan, providing you with one-off runs that embrace Fender's history. Fender Japan was first created back in 1982 to sell Fender guitars to the Japanese market. These were built in Japan to keep the price down to rival the Fender imitations that were being sold.

These Japanese productions were manufactured by FujiGen Gakki and marked as 'Made in Japan' (MIJ) until around 1992. It was then that production started moving to Tokai Gakki and Dyna Gakki, with these being marked as 'Crafted in Japan' (CIJ). It wasn't until 2015 when Fender itself took over the Japanese line, bringing you a whole new experience with classic designs in its 'Made in Japan' guitars.

The History of the Telecaster

The rich history of Fender guitars begins with the Telecaster. An indispensable instrument, the Telecaster was the world's first successful solid-body electric guitar. Perfected after two years of development - and a name change or two - the Telecaster debuted in February 1951 and began its steady ascent towards the stage and studio.
