The Bass Workshop series of instruments from Ibanez are designed to bring boutique-quality guitars with custom design features at a more affordable price point than luthier-made instruments. The Ibanez BTB33 is a 5-string bass with extra high C string and short 33" scale length to provide you with more scope for soloing and a higher melodic range.
The BTB33 is crafted from lightweight and resonant maple with a mahogany wing for added warmth and playing comfort. The body features a natural oil finish to show off the stunning wood grain and through-neck design, whilst the woods provide a bright and well-rounded tone with excellent sustain due to this construction. The neck is also maple with bubinga strips for added strength and stability. The 5 piece design is visible throughout the body and rear of the neck, again finished in natural oil, and provides an elegant and hand-crafted aesthetic.
The BTB33's 33" scale length provides a more 'slinky' playing feel and is perfect for vibratos and string bends that bassists will love when combined with the extra high C string. The asymmetric body and slim neck with neck-though design provides a wonderful playing feel with no boundaries to the top frets. The unique 'Finger Ramp' sits inbetween the two pickups and provides a tactile playing surface for the right hand, ensuring the fingers don't reach too far between the strings and assisting in soloing speed. This is guitar designed to be utilised through all 24 frets and players will enjoy testing the new melodic range available on this instrument.
The BTB33 features Bartolini BTB33 pickups which are designed to balance clarity with warmth and provide a tight bottom-end with full mid-range; perfect for a cutting yet full-sounding solo tone. The custom Ibanez 3-band EQ and 3-way mid frequency switch offers a great variety of tonal sculpting possibilities which can enhance chordal work as well as complex soloing.
The Mono Rail V Bridge ensures string isolation as each string is individually locked down to the body giving maximum string vibration transfer without any interference. Elsewhere, the jack socket is a Neutrik locking output jack which should ensure reliable and confident stage use of a cable without the risk of it being pulled out. The Graph Tech Black Tusq XL nut gives you excellent sustain and a clear sound.
