The Red Range of audio processors from Focusrite have deserved legendary status in the audio community. The Focusrite Red 1 500 Series Microphone Preamp offers the same performance as the original Red microphone preamp, and features the same circuit topology and components. The Lundahl LL1538 input and custom Carnhill output ultra-high-quality transformers give the Red Series its unique and transparent character.
The Focusrite Red 1 500 Series Microphone Preamp looks as good as it sounds, with its stylish red anodised aluminium front, and being built in the "Lunchbox" format, is the perfect travel partner. The backlit VU meter will give a precise read out of the levels that pass through the mic pre and the switchable calibration that is offered ensures accuracy. Excellent audio performance is maintained over a wide range of input impedances. Use the Red 1 500 with condensers, dynamics and ribbon mics, virtually any microphone you want, with up to 66dB of gain available.
A perfect choice for a 500-series rack in the studio or on location, the Red 1 500 has switchable phantom power, polarity invert and an easy-to-read backlit VU meter. Microphone gain is switched in 6 dB steps using a Grayhill gold-plated military-grade switch, over a range of -6 dB to +60 dB, allowing for precise channel matching and recall. The amplifier topology delivers good common mode rejection, provides a healthy overload margin, and with a shared gain structure from the transformer and the amplifier, a very low noise floor.
