The Fender Custom Shop 1952 Tele is built to embody the original spirit of the Telecaster's early years. Using period-accurate materials and construction techniques, it offers the kind of authenticity that only Fender’s finest luthiers can deliver. The two-piece ash body has been carefully selected and shaped to reflect the proportions and tonal characteristics of the classic '50s Teles, providing the snap and resonance that made the model legendary. Finished in a thin nitrocellulose lacquer and aged with a Journeyman relic treatment, the guitar has a naturally worn appearance with the feel of a well-loved vintage instrument. It’s a premium-level tribute that retains the historical charm while ensuring the build integrity of a modern, road-ready guitar.
A major standout feature of this Custom Shop Tele is its roasted 3A flame maple neck, which adds a visually arresting element as well as enhanced performance. The roasting process removes impurities and excess moisture, improving resonance and increasing stability under changing conditions. With a gorgeous flame figuring that adds depth and movement to the grain, the neck is as eye-catching as it is functional. Its '52-style “U” shape provides a substantial, vintage-correct feel in hand, while the smooth nitro finish allows for effortless movement up and down the neck. Combined with a modern 9.5" radius and 6105 frets, this neck offers vintage tone and modern comfort for both rhythm and lead work.
Tone comes straight from Fender’s golden era thanks to a hand-wound '51 Nocaster neck pickup, delivering bright clarity and a woody, articulate punch. This pickup is wired with a 51 Nocaster relic control assembly, giving you period-correct output and responsiveness. From warm jazz-inflected cleans to searing Tele twang, the pickup’s voicing stays dynamic and expressive. Every component, from the knurled chrome control knobs to the selector switch tip, has been selected and relic’d to match the original specification. The result is a guitar that doesn't just look the part but sings with the same authentic voice that defined early electric guitar tone.
Every inch of the 1952 Telecaster Relic is filled with historically accurate detail, right down to the vintage-style tuners, 4-bolt neck plate, and the disc-style string guide used from 1950–55. These elements are finished with subtle ageing to match the rest of the relic treatment, adding to the sense that this guitar has a story to tell. The 51/52 Tele bridge with compensated brass saddles retains the signature Tele snap while improving intonation. Combined with a lightweight tweed hardshell case and Custom Shop certificate of authenticity, the entire package delivers not just a stunning guitar, but a genuine slice of Fender history that feels, looks, and plays like a classic straight from the early '50s.
