When redesigning the new series of Neo cornets, Yamaha first spoke to three of the world's leading cornet players; Russell Gray, David King, and Phillip McCann. After carefully studying the information they had received, they concluded that three major objectives need to be achieved; to improve the build quality of the instrument, to produce a more versatile presence, and to increase the responsiveness of the instrument.
By making subtle improvements to a variety of features, Yamaha have achieved a series of cornets that work for the musician in a more efficient way. The one-piece bell has been improved for a more responsive sound with rich tonality. The high quality yellow brass used for the main body of the cornet has warm, deep characteristics, as well as a stunning aesthetic. Once the YCR8335 has been constructed, it is finished in a bright silver plate to keep the instrument looking newer for longer.
To ensure that your tone is always rounded and sweet, Yamaha have produced the YCR8335 with gold brass parts - most importantly, the leadpipe. Gold brass is favoured in professional instruments as it produces a richness in tonal variety that is required for brass bands. Gold brass can also be found on the main tuning slide and connection tube of the YCR8335 which provides a flexible sound and an excellent response in the higher register.
The passion for perfection
Yamaha pride themselves on exceptional build quality. This is why experienced artisans in Japan handcraft Neo cornets to ensure they are perfect. To make sure your tuning is always perfect, the Yamaha YCR8335 Neo cornet features 1st and 3rd slide triggers. The valves in the cornet are crafted from monel, which is a nickel and copper alloy. Monel valves are found in all professional Yamaha brass instruments as they are smooth, resistant to corrosion, and hardwearing.
The Neo series
The Neo series draws together a map of craftsmanship that involves the design, advanced technology, and the dreams of honoured artists from all over the world. The cornets in this series are here to inspire you with the incredible power and projection that they produce. Together with their redefined resistance and response, these cornets have great tonal flexibility. Neo cornets continue to develop towards their artists' needs in order to be the ideal musical instruments on the market.
The Yamaha YCR8335 Neo cornet includes a Yamaha CR16E mouthpiece, which is one of Yamaha's top-selling cornet mouthpieces. It offers smooth attacks, secure control, and easy playability thanks to its perfect all-round design. As well as this, the Neo includes one of Yamaha's luxurious leatherbound cases. Perfect for carrying your cornet, this newly designed custom case not only looks stylish, but will also keep your instrument protected.
