Why bidirectional?

This model comes with the RPM181 Bidirectional capsule.

This captures sound from two directions so is great for recording two sound sources on a single mono track. It can also be used as a mono drum overhead, ideal for a quick capture.

The Blumlein technique is possible by pairing with another bidirectional mic. Put simply, this is a pairing method that captures accurate spatial characteristics of recordings.
