The Dean Espana features a stunning solid cedar top which delivers a warm and responsive tone with a dark sound and an excellent bass response. Cedar produces rich harmonics, a sweet tonality, and tends to be less stiff than other tonewoods, making it more favorable among fingerpicking players. The solid cedar top is accompanied by mahogany back and sides that add a characterised warmth to its sweetly toned solid cedar top. Used as back and side panels the mahogany delivers a meaty mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity that will please most playing styles.
The Espana's neck is constructed from mahogany, offering great durability and resonance. Mahogany responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease, making ideal for the classical/flamenco genres. To make the classical player feel right at home, the Espana's neck features a flat fingerboard profile, offering smooth and traditional playability. The neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that offers warmth and a bright sizzling-sparkle that really shines through when using fingerpicking techniques.
The Dean Espana Plus features a classical guitar body shape which offers a comfortable playing experience, ideal for a player who loves classical/flamenco styles. The Dean Espana will perform greatly for both flamenco and classical styled strumming to more complex fingerpicking techniques that is signature of flamenco-styled play.
